Vazhakkai Varuval




INGREDIENTS:
Vazhkakkai/Banana Plantain -3
Red chilli powder - 1 and 1/2 Tbsp
Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
Garam Masala powder -1 tsp
Salt as required
Oil -4 Tbsp
Mustard -1/2 tsp
Curry leaves -1 tsp

METHOD:

1.Wash Banana Plantain.


2.Peel  the skin.

3.Chop them into slightly thin pieces.


4.Boil water for blanching banana flower.


5.Add Chopped banana flower and blanch for 3 minutes.

6.Remove blanched plantain .


7.Place blanched plantains in a bowl

8.Add all masala powders and salt.

9.Mix well.

10.Heat Oil in a kadai and add mustard seeds.When it pops ,add curry leaves.


11.Add masala coated plantains and fry till plantains are cooked well and turns brown.


Serve hot with rice.I had with mochakottai kulambu😋

Sakkarai pongal




INGREDIENTS:

Raw rice -1 cup
Moong Dal -4 Tbsp
Water -6 Cups
Jaggery -1 and 1/2
Cardamom-2
Edible Camphor-1 pinch

To roast:
Ghee -4 tbsp
Cashews-10
Raisins -10

METHOD:

1) Wash rice and Moong dal.


2)Add water and pressure cook for 5 whistles.

3)Boil jaggery in water.


4)Heat ghee and add cashews,raisins and Cardamom.



5) Open pressure cooker and mash it


6)Add roasted cashews,raisins and Cardamom.
